Fifth Station – Simon helps carry the Cross

Leader: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. 

All: Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. 

From the Gospel according to Luke 

As they led him away, they seized a man, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming from the country, and they laid the cross on him, and made him carry it behind Jesus (Lk 23:26). Reflection The Roman soldiers conscript a bystander to help Jesus for a few brief moments. Jesus needed the help of his father Joseph, who listened to the words of an angel in a dream and fled into Egypt. Joseph protected Jesus during his infancy, when even then someone wanted to put him to death. 

Dear St. Joseph, ask the Lord to send us the people we need when we need them most. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory Be...
